Shane started his League of Ireland career at Cobh Ramblers in 2006 and was a member of the Cobh team that won the First Division title in 2007. He left Cobh in the summer of 2008 having made 54 league appearances.

Shane signed for Munster Senior League side Blarney United in the autumn of 2008 and spent two seasons with club, playing in their 2009 FAI Cup third round tie against Sporting Fingal. In June 2010 he teamed up with his former Cobh manager, Stephen Henderson, at Waterford United where he spent one year and made 15 league appearances before quitting the Blues in June of 2011.
