Originally arrived at Finn Park prior to the start of the 2006 season, Davitt signed for Harps from Derry City where he spent the 2005 season as part of their under-21 side. A former Fanad United player, he was Harps’ top scorer during the 2006 season where he scored nine goals, including a hat-trick in the 4-1 victory over Monaghan United in May of that year.

Davitt left Finn Harps at the end of the 2006 campaign and signed a full-time contract with Bohemians. However, he did not make a league appearance for Bohs, going out on loan to Shelbourne and Ballymena United. In 2008 he signed a permanent deal at Bllymena before having a spell at Lisburn Distillery.

Davitt signed again for Harps in February 2010 and scored on his second debut for the club against Longford Town in the opening game of the 2010 season. At the end of 2010 Davitt returned to play for Fanad United.
