Peter’s Biography

Peter played underage football with local Derry side Oxford United Stars and also played in Coleraine's under age system. While still at Coleraine he travelled to English side Bradford City for summer training camps but this arrangement ended when he Coleraine contract expired.

In January 1991 Peter signed for Derry City where he made his league debut against Cork City at Brandywell on 17 March. He spent the next seven seasons with Derry, making nearly 200 league appearances before leaving to join Irish League side Portadown in 1998.

Peter played 18 times in the league for Portadown in the latter half of the 1997/98 season and made 7 more league appearances at the beginning of 1998/99, and returned to Derry Colours before the year was out. In his second spell with the Candystripes he made 92 league appearances over three seasons.

In the summer of 2001 Peter signed for Shelbourne where he won the league title in what would be his only season with the club, and one year after leaving he returned for a third stint at Derry City. Another eight seasons at the Brandywell followed as Peter added a further 216 league appearances to his career tally.

At the end of the 2009 season Peter was told he would not be kept on at Derry and he signed for Cliftonville on New Years Eve, making 40 league appearances over the next year and a half.

On 3 May 2011 Peter took over the manager's role at First Division Finn Harps.
