Tony’s Biography

Tony began his career in the youth system at Leeds United and earned his first professional contract at Preston North End in November 1995. He made just 1 league appearance for Preston and was loaned out to Glenavon in the Irish League. In January 1997 Tony signed permanently with the Glens and later that season he scored the winning goal in the Irish Cup final.

After three and a half seasons at Glenavon Tony moved south of the border to join Shamrock Rovers in the summer of 2000. Four more seasons followed as a Hoop but in February 2004 he crossed the city to sign for arch rivals Bohemians. In July 2006,he signed for Drogheda United in what he described as 'a dream move'.

Tony won the league title while at Drogheda, in 2007, the same year that the club won the Setanta Cup. He remained with the Drogs for two years, leaving in the summer transfer window of 2008 when he returned to Gelnavon. He spent three seasons with the Glens before being released at the end of 2010/11. He joined Leinster Senior League side Glebe North but was swiftly re-signed by Glenavon in January 2012. This last hurrah was a short one as Tony was forced to retire in June 2012 due to persistent injury problems.
