Richie’s Biography

Richie began his football career with Belvedere, an Irish youth football club based in Fairview, Dublin. In 2003, he moved to Sunderland and made two substitute appearances for the Black Cats in the English Premiership.

After being loaned to Scunthorpe he then signed for the Irons in 2005 and after 13 appearances he moved to Boston United. Boston suffered a double relegation due to restrictions forced by the HM Revenue and Customs and Ryan left the club.

Richie spent 2007/08 playing for Royal Antwerp before moving back to Ireland where he signed for Sligo Rovers in the sumer transfer window. He made his debut for the Bit O' Red in a 1-0 defeat to Cork City at the Showgrounds on 3 August '08 and went on to spend three years with the Bit O Red, notching 112 appearances and six goals.

In November 2011, Ryan signed for Scottish Premier League side Dundee United where he made 33 league appearances over two seasons. He left the club at the end of 2012/13 and returned to Ireland where he signed for Shamrock Rovers on 7 August 2013. He made his debut for the Hoops two days later in a 4-0 defeat to St Pats at Tallaght Stadium and went on to make 9 league appearances for the club over the latter half of the season. He also won a League Cup winner's medal as Rovers beat Drogheda United 2-0 in the final.

At the end of 2013 Richie left Shamrock Rovers to emigrate to Canada.
