Ger’s Biography

Ger began his professional career at Sunderland but after two and a half years in England he returned home to sign for Shelbourne in the summer of 2002. He made his league debut on 2nd September against Shamrock Rovers but was then loaned out to Irish League side Crusaders where he made 14 league appearances.

Ger returned to Tolka Park early in 2003 and made 29 league appearances over the next two seasons as Shelbourne won consecutive League titles in 2003 and 2004.

In 2005 Ger found himself on loan at St Patrick's Athletic where he made 26 league appearances, scoring four goals along the way. At the end of the 2005 season he moved north to play for Ballymena United, returning in July 2006 to sign for Pat Scully at Shamrock Rovers. Ger scored on his debut for Rovers against Athlone Town and the club went on to win the 2006 First Division title, regaining their place in the top tier for 2007. Ger contributed six goals in 29 league appearances as the Hoops finished 5th in the Premier Division.

In February 2008 Ger left Rovers to sign for Eddie Gormley at Bray Wanderers and made 30 league appearances, scoring four times. However, he was released shortly after the start of the 2009 season and, after a short spell in Vietnam, he returned to sign up with Dundalk under new boss Sean Connor.

Ger scored six times in just 12 league appearances for Dundalk in 2009 but moved on at the end of the season, joining Newry City in the Irish League in February 2010.

In 2012 Ger turned out for LSL side Crumlin United and was part of the club's FAI Cup squads of 2012 and 2014. In January 2016, Ger moved to Bluebell United. He spent just one season at the Red Cow before moving back to Crumlin United for the 2017/18 season.
