Alan’s Biography
Alan played with local Waterford side Johnville before making the move to England in 1994 where he spent four years at Aston Villa. He then returned to Ireland where he began his League of Ireland career at Waterford United, making his debut against Bohemians at the RSC on 29 January 1999.
He spent three years with the Blues, scoring 16 goals in 81 league appearances before moving to Longford Town in 2001 where he was part of the team that won two FAI Cups, in 2003 and 2004, and one League Cup, in 2004.
In December 2006 Alan signed for St. Patrick's Athletic where he spent two seasons before signing for Liam Buckley at Sporting Fingal for the 2009 season. He won a third FAI Cup winners medal with Fingal in 2009, scoring in the semi-final win over Bray Wanderers.
In January 2011 Alan signed up with Sligo Rovers on a one year contract and scored six times in 31 league appearances as Sligo finished second in the Premier Division. He also picked up his fourth FAI Cup winners medal as an unused substitute in Sligo's victory over Shelbourne at the Aviva Stadium.
In February 2012 Alan returned for a second spell at Longford Town when he scored five goals in 29 appearances as the 'Town' lost out in a promotion play-off against Waterford United. It was to be Alan's last season of league football as he quietly retired from the game on the final whistle.
