Daire’s Biography

Daire started his professional career in 1998 with Coventry City under Gordon Strachan, but struggled for first team opportunities. In January 2001 he signed for Jan Molby at Kidderminster Harriers and appeared 27 times, scoring once, in a two year stint at the club.

In the summer of 2003 Daire was released by Kidderminster (along with future Galway United and Dundalk manager Ian Foster) which prompted a move to Nuneaton Borough. He spent one season there before moving on to Moor Green F.C in the summer of 2004 where he scored 11 goals in 53 starts.

In 2006 Daire moved on to Redditch United and he also had a spell at Bromsgrove Rovers before returning to Ireland in 2007 when he signed for Longford Town. He enjoyed two seasons at Flancare Park and played in the club's 2007 FAI Cup final team that lost 1-0 to Cork City. He made 21 appearances in that first year at Longford, a season that ended in relegation to the First Division, and a further 35 in 2008.

In January 2009 Daire signed for Eddie Gormley at Bray Wanderers and made 22 appearances as the Seagulls finished bottom of the Premier Division. Spared relegation thanks to the expulsion of Derry City and the collapse of Cork City, Bray continued in the top tier and, over 2010 and 2011, Daire made a further 46 league appearances for the club. He added a further 17 league appearances in 2012 and 23 more in 2013 before leaving Bray to sign for Robbie Horgan at Drogheda United in 2014.

Daire's time at Drogheda coincided with a downturn in the club's fortunes but he made 29 league appearances for the Drogs before leaving United Park at the end of the 2014 season to sign for First Division Shelbourne.

Daire was made captain at Shelbourne and made 26 league appearances for the club as they just missed out on the play-offs and finished fourth in the 2015 First Division table, and in 2016 he missed just one league game, adding 27 more appearances to his career total. After two seasons at Tolka Park Daire moved on, signing for new Cabinteely boss Pat Devlin ahead of the 2017 season.

Daire retired at the end of the 2017 season at the age of 37.

Daire was appointed Assistant Manager with Longford Town for the 2018 campaign.
