Kevin played underage football with Longford Town in 2008, making occasional appearances on the bench with the first team. He returned to Galway to play Junior football and joined Mervue United from local side Colmanstown United in 2009, making his league debut as a late substitute in a 1-0 win against Limerick FC at Terryland Park on 30 May. He went on to make 19 appearances in that season, Mervue's first in League football.

In 2010 he made a further 34 appearances for the club and is one of the most experienced players on the club's books. Primarily a central midfielder, Kevin played regularly at full back in 2011, due to an injury suffered by regular defender Nicky Curran, and made 20 league appearances that year.

Kevin attended college in London in 2012 and made just 1 league appearance for Johnny Glynn's side, against Athlone Town on 21 September. He then went to the US.
