Michael played underage football with Belvedere before joining UCD in the summer of 2007. He made his league debut for UCD on the opening day of the 2009 season in a 2-1 win over Limerick FC and gained further experience in 2010, making 13 Premier Division appearances for the club. In 2011 established himself as first choice centre back, captaining UCD to 8th place in the top tier and making 30 league starts.

Mick re-signed for the 2012 season and played 29 games in the league for UCD as they finished 9th. He was hampered by injuries in 2013 and was only able to play the last 10 league games as UCD finished 9th again, avoiding the relegation play-offs by just three points. In November 2013, Mick signed for Limerick FC but injuries once again affected his season and he was restricted to just 8 league appearances as Limerick finished sixth in the 2014 Premier Division table.

In February 2015 Mick returned to his alma mater, UCD. He helped the club during it's Europa League campaign, appearing in all four games as they were knocked out by Slovan Bratislava, and 23 times in their First Division campaign, scoring three times as UCD made the promotion play-offs. However, Finn Harps defeated them over two legs and Mick left the club at the end of the season.

Mick played on trial for Sligo Rovers during January 2016 before signing for new manager Dave Robertson. He made his league bow for the club on the opening weekend of the season against Shamrock Rovers at the Showgrounds and made 29 league appearances as Sligo finished fifth in the Premier Division. Mick left Sligo following the culmination of the 2017 season.

In January 2018, Mick signed for St Patrick's Athletic for the new campaign.
