Ross played with Ballina Town in 2011/12 and signed for Mike Kerley at Athlone Town in February 2012. He made his senior debut in a Leinster Senior up game at UCD on 27 February and made his league bow four days later in Athlone's opening league fixture of the season, a 2-1 home win over SD Galway. Ross went on to make 17 league appearances that year.

In February 2013 Ross was turning out for Johnny Glynn's Mervue United but his competitive debut for the Galway club did not come until a 2-1 win over Salthill Devon on 6 July. He went on to make 6 league appearances for Mervue that year but at the end of the season Mervue ceded their place in the league to the newly created Galway FC. Ross then signed for Galway in January 2014.

Injury limited Ross to just 2 league appearances for Galway and he left the club in July 2014 to emigrate to America but returned to LOI football in February 2017 when he signed for the newly renamed Wexford FC. He played in 26 of Wexford's twenty-eight league games that year and in February 2018 he was named club captain by manager Damien Locke.
