John’s Biography

John joined Cork City's U19 squad in 2011/12 and was part of two U19 double winning sides at Turner's Cross. His first senior outing came as an unused sub against Monaghan United in October 2011 and he made his senior debut against Rockmount in the Munster Senior Cup in February 2012. John didn't make his league bow for the Rebels until 2013 when he was in the starting XI away to Shelbourne on 12 July and he made 8 league appearances that season. In 2014 John scored his first goal for the club, netting in a 3-1 win over Bray Wanderers at Turner's Cross. He also made 18 league appearances (nine as a sub) as City finished second to champions Dundalk in the league table.

John stayed with Cork for the 2015 season and made 16 league appearances but injury ruled him out for much of the league campaign and also caused him to miss out on the FAI Cup Final where Dundalk defeated Cork 1-0 after extratime. The injury also kept John out of the Cork City side for much of 2016 but he returned to action until late September when he came on as an 88th minute substitute against Galway United at Eamonn Deacy Park. He made 3 league appearances by the end of the season managing 90 minutes in City's last two league matches of 2016. With John suffering further injury issues that stretched on right through the 2017 season, he opted for a loan move in July 2017 heading to Cobh Ramblers.

In January 2018 John moved on loan to Waterford for the first half of the season before returning to Cork in July. He then went on loan to Finn Harps and stayed with them for a full year, not returning to Cork City until July 2019 at which point he officially left Turner's Cross.

Within days of quitting Cork City, John signed a permanent deal with Waterford and played there for the rest of 2019. In January 2020 he moved back to Cork, signing for Cobh Ramblers.
