Cian came through the ranks at local Junior club Granville Rangers before signing for Pat Scully at Limerick FC on 10 July 2011. He played for the club's U19 side in their 2011/12 season and had his first outing with the senior team as an unused sub in the FAI Cup quarter-final defeat to Shelbourne in October 2011. He made his senior debut against Cork City in an EA Cup game against Cork City on 9 April 2012 and had scored within a minute as Limerick went on to win 3-0. He also scored on his league debut against Mervue United four weeks later and he made 7 league appearances in 2012.

Cian went through pre-season in 2013 under new manager Stuart Taylor but he was not part of Taylor's league squad and returned to local league football.
