Christy’s Biography

Christy developed at St Anthony's Boys and Home Farm before spending three years as a trainee at Manchester United. Following a short spell at Hamilton in Scotland, Christy went on to play for Lincoln City before a brief loan spell at Spanish club Jerez Industrial CF.

Christy returned to Dublin in 2011 and was on trial with Shamrock Rovers before signing for Bohemians in February of that year. He scored on his league debut away to Bray Wanderers on the opening day of the 2011 season and went on to make 23 league appearances that year, scoring 8 goals.

In January 2012 Christy signed for St. Patrick's Athletic. He made his Pats debut against Cliftonville at Solitude in the Setanta Cup on 13 February 2012 and scored twelve times in 25 league games that season. In 2013 Christy started made 32 league appearances and scored eight times in the league (adding four more in cup competition) as Pats claimed the 2013 league title.

Christy upped his goalscoring form in 2014, netting twenty goals in thirty-two league appearances as the Saints came third in the league. He also scored both of the Saints' goals in the FAI Cup Final to give them the 2-0 win over Derry City and the Cup. Injury disrupted Christy's season in 2015 and he only managed 16 league appearances, although he still managed six goals. He also scored in the penalty shootout when Pats lifted the 2015 EA Cup, beating Galway United in the final.

2016 brought Christy another EA Sports Cup winners medal and this time he scored the Saints' opening goal in a 4-1 win over Limerick in the final. He also bagged ten goals from 27 league appearances as Pats finished a disappointing seventh in the Premier Division. He got two more goals in European competition, hitting the net against both Jeunesse Esch and Dinamo Minsk.
