SHOOTOUT PENALTY SCORED!

Roman Debelko scored a Shootout Penalty for Riga FC.

120'

Hoban did hurt himself in that effort, will he be okay to take a penalty? Still he manages to heroicly track back and get in the way of a Riga move.

120'

Shoot-out

We will now have a penalty shoot-out between Riga FC and Dundalk.

It is a peno shoot-out!!

118'

Jarvis plays a crossfield ball and Hoban gets the lightest of touches on it but can't direct it goalward. We've seen him score like that before. He's limping after that.

117'

McGrath forces a foul from Rugins on the right. Murray stands over it to put it in...it's easily prodded away by the tall Riga backs.

115'

Five minutes of regular extra time left.

114'

Georgie Kelly has been warming up for some time now on the sideline but doesn't look any closer to making an appearance with 6 mins remaining. Is Perth keepign Hoban on for penalties? Dundalk not making use of the extra body here. Riga content to slow the game down.

113'

Sean Murray tries one from distane and it's well hit but not on target.

110'

Second Yellow & Red Card

Herdi Prenga receives a second yellow card and is sent off for Riga FC.

110'

At the death, Hoare does magnificantly to stretch and get in the way of Debelko strike. Phew. Judging by the way it pinged off Hoare, it was well hit.

108'

McEleney curls one in from distance. Perhaps he spied the 'keeper off the line, but Ozols was more than able to get his feet right and hold onto it.

106'

Substitution

Vladislavs Gabovs replaces Aleksejs Visnakovs for Riga FC. A fourth substitution allowed because of extratime.

106'

EXTRATIME SECOND HALF!

The second half of extra-time between Riga FC and Dundalk has started.

105'

Gannon strains to get to a ball down the right to get a cross. At full pelt, he doesn't get much purchase on it and it's straight into Ozols hands.

102'

Daniel Kelly jinks in from the right and gets a shot away that requies a save. He might be the key here, hopefully he can get on the ball a bit more in those dangerous positions.

101'

Visnakov's gets past Massey and tries his cross. Some cries for a penalty for handball but it's a corner.

6'5 Panic meets the corner but he can't direct it anywhere.

99'

Substitution

Dean Jarvis replaces Chris Shields for Dundalk.

98'

Gary Rogers has to make a save to deny Visnakovs. A rushed Dundalk clerance doesn't relieve the pressure and it's played into Visnakov, whose first touch takes it away from goal at a tight angle but he still manages to get a shot away. Rogers needed to be there.

95'

Free out for Dundalk as Massey is pushed. Thanfully from a Dundalk perspective as Riga had numbers forward.

94'

Daniel Kelly goes great down the right, but he can't find any of the three white shirts in the box. It's out for a corner that is dealt with easily. If he'd managed to pinpoint a Dundalk player, that could have been the big breakthrough. Good impact from Kelly so far though.

91'

EXTRATIME FIRST HALF!

The first half of extra-time between Riga FC and Dundalk has started.

90'

FULL TIME!

The end of 90mins.

We're going to extra-time!

90'

Riga look content to play for extra time, they are stroking the ball about deep in their own half. Dundalk might be glad of a chance to regroup too. They haven't looked full of ideas in the closing phases.

89'

Yellow Card

Daniel Kelly is booked for Dundalk. Diving for a penalty, tut tut.

89'

Cries for a penalty! Daniel Kelly gets into the box and then hits the deck. The referee looks like his is going to book him for diving. Oh my, why didn't he stay on his feet there if that's the case. He was in a great position.

86'

Debelko draws a free from Massey. Riga will be happy to get set pieces in the closing moments, they have lots of big men on the pitch. The free is taken and danger averted by the offside whistle.

84'

The sizable travelling contingent are willing on their heros in the final 8 mins here. It's getting tense.

81'

Substitution

Stefan Panic replaces Olegs Laizans for Riga FC.

81'

Substitution

Daniel Kelly replaces Robbie Benson for Dundalk.

80'

Rugins and Cernomordijs stroakign it back and forth along the back. it looks like they are working upt to some move, waiting for an opening, and then it's played long and out of play.

76'

Patrick McEleney makes a sliding tackle to stop a cross. Riga enjoying their best spell of the game at the moment.

75'

Still no goals.Signs of tiredness showing at times. Dundalk have two more subs left to play to Riga's one.

73'

Riga get a corner from nothing as a lone Debelko miscontrols it, but it comes off the foot of Andy Boyle and limps out.

The corner is played short and whipped into Debelko (the last man Dundalk want to see on the end of a cross) who just can't direct it.

70'

Benson forces a corner dinking into the box - Hoare rises to meet it but it skims the top of his head and keeps going -harmlessly away from goal.

65'

A free kick on the right is awarded after Laizans catches McGrath with his arm as he tries to go by. The Latvian defender gets a yellow for his actions, perhaps fortuitous to get just that.

The resulting free is played low to Patrick McEleney outside the box who hits it, but doesn't catch it as well as he'd have liked. It runs out of force against the bodies between him and the net.

65'

Yellow Card

Olegs Laizans is booked for Riga FC.

64'

Substitution

Sean Murray replaces John Mountney for Dundalk.

64'

Dundalk have the ball in the net, but it's deemed offside. A ball into the box is met by the head of Patrick Hoban who wheels away in celebration, but the joy is cut short by the shrill whistle of the referee.

63'

Riga have their first corner of the game. It's put in very high, banking on their height proving the difference, but the Dundalk defence is more than able.

Riga have taken the wind out of Dundalk's sails with those two subs it seems. Perth will want to see his side get the ball and pass it around more.

57'

Riga have a free kick wide left almost in line with the box following a Mountney challenge. Riga get men in the box ready for the cross. Chris Shields reacts first to put it back where it came from and out for a throw.

55'

Yellow Card

Chris Shields is booked for Dundalk.

53'

Riga made two subs in quick succession: they have one left. A midfielder and a foward, looks like they are going for that goal.

52'

Substitution

Deniss Rakels replaces Joel Bopesu for Riga FC.

50'

Substitution

Felipe Brisola replaces Roger Junio Rodrigues Ferreira for Riga FC.

49'

Chris Shields draws a foul from Bopesu. It's another free deep into Riga territory, but the Lilywhites don't manage to test the Riga 'keeper from it.

47'

John Mountney, wearing number 8, makes a run into the box but his opposite number 8, Rugins gets his body in the way and sees the ball out.

46'

A Mountney/McGrath one-two is ended with a foul in a shooting position. The setting sun will be in the eyes of whoever hits it.

Moutney crosses it into the box and Dane Massey is there to meet it but his effort bobbles wide of the right upright.

46'

Second Half

The second half between Riga FC and Dundalk has started.

McGrath and Benson get us back under way in the circle. My gut is telling me this could be a one goal game. Here's hoping Dundalk can find a way through.

45'

At the end of the first half, Dundalk fans will be pleased. They took their foot off the pedal a bit in the closing five or ten minutes but dominated much of the game thus far. Chances at goal have been limited at the Skonto stadium: Riga had a menacing go from range as the half wound down. Dundalk have been causing some havoc in the box but their only real go at goal came from outside it when McEleney forced a fine save after the half hour mark.

45'

Half Time

It is half-time between Riga FC and Dundalk.

45'

Dundalk have gone into their shell in the closing minutes of this half and Riga are taking the game to them. Debelko manages to get the ball off Benson outside the box and gets a shot away that wasn't far off. That would have been a cruel way to go behind. But it's a reminder that a lapse in concentration can be critacal at this level.

43'

At a glance, whatever it says on the Latvian stewards' hi-vis jackets in Latvian, looks kind of like 'Dentists' in English. I'm not sure why, but that makes them seem very sinister.

39'

Riga enjoying a spell of posession following a half characterised by Dundalk dominance thus far.

35'

Oofft!

Great chance for Dundalk. McEleney whips a ball to the backpost, having left his man for dead. Mountney gets on the end of it and forces a fine save from Ozols. The referee calls it offside anyway, but it looked okay. Dundalk have Riga a bit rattled here.

33'

Yellow Card

Tomislav Saric is booked for Riga FC.

It's a foul pretty far out but it looks like McEleney will have a go...

It's on target but an easy save. A bit tame by the time it gets over the wall and down.

29'

Great save from Ozols in the Riga net. Following a corner, it spills to the Derryman who gives the Riga 'keeper his first real test. He has to spread to full lenght to deny the Irish side from taking the lead.

27'

Jamie McGrath wins a free on the right. He is pulled down right in front of the linesman. The free creates some panic in the box but it's put to safety by Riga.

26'

Both sides cautious with their build up play. Riga perhaps with the more direct approach, Dundalk with slightly more of the play.

24'

Dubious double tackle on Patrick McEleney in the box. The ball was going out of play and there was nothing to contend for. I think if there was Var here, that double body-check would be a penalty. Risky risky stuff from the Latvian side.

22'

A long looping ball out to the left wing goes to waste from Gannon. It's not the first time that hasn't worked out for the Lilywhites. Maybe it's muscle memory from having Duffy on the left.

20'

Sean Gannon, down in the opposition corner, nutmeggs the defender and gets a dangerous cross into the six yard box. There appeared to be a backpass to the netminder from a Riga defender!

Patrick Hoban is kicking up a fuss, but the referee isn't interested.

A real scare for the home side there.

18'

John Mountney probes down the right and his cross is cut out. Riga have been coming into the game a bit more, they've been starting to grow in confidence with their passing.

Dundalk never manaed to really test this 'keeper last week. I'm sure Vinny Perth will have told the Lilywhites to let a few more fly today.

16'

Hoban comes deep to win a ball. He appears to do well, especially with Cernomordjis hanging out of him wih his arms around his head and neck, but remarkably, the Dundalk player is deemed to have pushed. Free to Riga.

13'

The first corner of the game comes from John Mountney's never say die attitude. He chases an overhit ball down and forces the defender to put it out. Statistically very few goals come from corners, this one is cleared.

12'
Gary Rogers again has to come out to clear a ball. Dundalk playing very far up the pitch at the moment and it's making them vulnerable to through balls.

10'
McEleney and Massey conspire on the left. Massey almost gets a receiving ball in the box but it's cut out.

6'

Yellow Card

Armands Petersons is booked for Riga FC.

5'
Gary Rogers was called into action. Not a save, he had to rush off the line to intervene in an awful backpass that almost became a through ball.

1'

GAME ON!

The game between Riga FC and Dundalk has kicked off.

We're under way here. 0-0 from Oriel Park as Riga neutralised the Irish side. Dundalk will have to find a way to score here today to progress without Micheal Duffy who doesn't make the team. Chris Shields recovered from last weeks knock. I'll keep you posted of all the action from Latvia today.
