CABINTEELY

Cabinteely will look to further their playoff aspirations ahead of the visit of Galway United to Stradbrook on Friday evening (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

This will be Cabinteely’s penultimate home league game of the season, with only Athlone Town left to play at the South Dublin venue.

However, the sole focus is on the visit of the Tribesmen for Pat Devlin’s promotion hunting side,

Cabo have only failed to score against Galway United on one occasion previously, when they played out a scoreless draw back in May.

“There are no easy games. I don’t expect Galway, or any other team for that matter, to be any different,” Devlin said.

“We just have to keep going; and working hard. We must be focused on the job ahead. You have to keep trying and hope the breaks go your way. A little bit of luck also helps.”

In terms of news for the hosts, Kieran ‘Marty’ Waters, Jack Watson and Shane Barnes are all ruled out of action with injury.

Assistant manager Eddie Gormley remains suspended, serving the last game of his three game ban having been dismissed against Wexford.

GALWAY UNITED

Galway United will hope build on their positive first-round FAI Cup win over Collinstown on Sunday afternoon when they return to the capital to face Cabinteely at Stradbrook.

The Tribesmen have since drawn Cork City, Cabinteely’s victors, in the last 16 of the competition where they will face each other on Friday week.

“Last week against Collinstown was largely positive,” Alan Murphy told his club’s media team.

“There were a few mistakes here and there, but you’ll get that with a young group. We’ll bring a bit of confidence into the Cabinteely game.

“We should have scored a few more against Collinstown, but hopefully we can hit the ground running this weekend and our performance is good, which will lead to getting another positive result.

“Football is all about confidence. The players won their last game out and performed pretty well too.

“The Cabinteely game will provide an opportunity for others in the squad to stake a claim for the Cork City game and for the players to keep their stock up.”

Vinny Faherty, Iarfhlaith Davoren and Andrew Peters will all miss out on the trip to the promotion chasing Dubliners.

Referee: Alan Patchell.
