WEXFORD FC

After four successive defeats by the odd goal, Wexford look to get back to winning ways on Friday evening when they host promotion hunting Limerick FC at Ferrycarrig Park (kick-off is at 8pm).

The Slaneysiders suffered heartbreak last time out against Longford Town as Jamie Doyle popped up with a last-gasp winner for Neale Fenn’s side.

It was a cruel twist of fate for Brian O’Sullivan’s side who battled gamely throughout the ninety minutes at City Calling Stadium.

It is now six games since Wexford’s last win which came against fellow basement battlers Athlone Town in April.

The in-form duo of Jack Doherty and Danny Furlong linked up well on that occasion to dispose of the Blue and Black of the Midlands by a score of two goals to nil.

In terms of team news for Wexford, Sean Callan and Ryan Nolan are both ruled out of contention with injury complaints while Ricky Fox is also suspended.

John Peare and Conor Sutton both are in contention to return to the starting eleven after their recent returns to the club.

LIMERICK

Hoping to continue on their recent run of impressive form, Tommy Barrett takes his inexperienced Limerick FC side to Ferrycarrig Park.

Limerick, despite all of their off-pitch issues, have performed admirably so far this term as they lie currently in 4th spot, ahead of Cabinteely on goal difference.

The Shannonsiders have Premier Division experience in their squad which will aid them significantly as the season progresses with promotion looking a very possible result.

However, Limerick have lost three of their previous four away games with their recent win in Cobh ending a streak of two consecutive defeats on the road.

Colm Walsh O’Loughlen and Andy Quaid are both ruled out for Limerick’s trip to Wexford as Tomas O’Connor is also unavailable with Leaving Cert commitments.

Referee: Graham Kelly.

MATCH STATS

The last meeting between both Limerick and Wexford at the Markets Field was the first meeting of Wexford FC and Limerick ever as both sides played out a 1-1 draw.

Wexford FC have the worst goalscoring record in the First Division with only fifteen goals to their name after 16 games.

The Blues have only won three away league outings so far this season despite being unbeaten away from home.
