FULL TIME!

The game has ended between Cork City and Dundalk.

Delight here as the home side comes out on top. Two defeats in a row now for Dundalk. It doesn't take away from their success this season. It will be a huge frustration for Perth and his playing staff. It also creates a seed of doubt for them going into the close season.

Can Shamrock Rovers take notes on this game ahead of the cup final? They face up against City on the last game of the season. Major boost for Fenn and his young players from tonight's result

FULL TIME!

The game has ended between Cork City and Dundalk.

90' + 3'

Melee in the goalmouth area but somehow it manages to be cleared away. The backline has earned its clean sheet if it arrives.

90'

Three minutes to be added on here. Everyone on edge

88'

McGrath does well to swivel himself to lay it on to Gannon. His shot is over the bar

85'

Massey is the newest Dundalk player to scream in frustration as Ryan tips away his header from a set-piece

82'

Substitution

Eoghan Stokes replaces Beineon O'Brien Whitmarsh for Cork City.

First change for Neal Fenn as Eoghan Stokes replaces O' Brien Withmarsh. He has gone a good shift tonight but seemed to be tiring.

80'

The resulting corner sees a goalmouth scramble but cleared away

79'

Ryan is to the fore yet again as he tips over Bensen's piledriver from the edge of the area.

77'

Substitution

Georgie Kelly replaces Daniel Kelly for Dundalk.

One Kelly for another as George enters the action

75'

McGrath tries his luck with a snap shot which is palmed away by Ryan

73'

Another chance for Hoban after it is laid onto him by Bensen. He shoots wide though

70'

Hoban takes over free-kick duties on this occasion but his goes straight into the arms of Ryan

68'

Duffy stands over a free-kick but his attempt goes over the bar

63'

Karl Sheppard is played in at the back but his shot is blocked by McCarey.

61'

Yellow Card

Dane Massey is booked for Dundalk.

60'

Dundalk have come back strongly in the last ten minutes.

59'

The substitute is almost on the scoresheet immediately. Hoban does brilliantly to put him in one on one with the keeper. Ryan is equal to the challenge though.

56'

Substitution

Jamie McGrath replaces Sean Murray for Dundalk.

Perth changes up his attacking options as Jamie McGrath enters the fray. He replaces Sean Murray who took that knock earlier.

54'

Daniel Kelly plays a great ball to the onrushing Shields. He is unable to make proper connection on it and Tadhg Ryan gets his hand to it. The resulting corner sees Andy Boyle head straight at the City keeper. A busy few minutes.

52'

The resulting free-kick leads to a chance. Ronan Hurley floats in the ball and Conor McCormack heads it on. The looping attempt goes just wide of the post.

51'

Yellow Card

Chris Shields is booked for Dundalk.

Shields goes into the book much to his bemusement.

46'

Second Half

The second-half gets underway

Half Time

It is half-time between Cork City and Dundalk.

GOAL!

Daire O'Connor scores for Cork City.

City strike first and are ahead. Against the run of play, it has to be said. O' Brien-Withmarsh who has come into the game a lot more in the last few minutes collects the ball and manages to slice a perfect pass through the Dundalk backline. Daire O' Brien calmly slots it home to the delight of the crowd. The champions are behind on the stroke of half-time.

42'

A Duffy corner goes all the way to Sean Massey at the back post. It is cleared off the line again with Robbie Bensen aiming to guide it home.

38'

Beineon O' Brien-Withmarsh (now there's a name for you) manages to beat Shields to the ball in the ball. He advances on goal and looks to play in Gearoid Morrissey, who is lurking on the edge of the box. The pass is intercepted by Murray and it comes to naught.

38'

Both are patched up and deemed fit to continue though

37'

Crash, bang, wallop. Sean Murray and Conor McCormack go into a challenge for the ball. Neither man holding back. It is the former who comes out the worse. Attention is required

31'

A great ball played by Patrick Hoban finds Duffy in space. His attempted pull back is hacked clear at the last minute by Alec Byrne with players waiting to take advantage. Good anticipation

28'

Sean Murray floats in a free-kick that reaches Michael Duffy at the back post. He is only able to head wide though. A let off for the home team. Dundalk are starting to build up a head of steam at the moment

27'

The visitors have been on top for the past few minutes but City are standing firm at the moment.

26'

Chris Shields is a player that Cork City know well. He is allowed too much room to swing a great cross into the danger area. The City defenders are able to clear it away however.

17'

Daire O' Connor is full of confidence after his performance last week. His shot from outside the area is well directed but only manages to sting the palms of Aaron McCarery in the Dundalk net. He is eager to impress after being given the rare chance to replace Gary Rogers.

12'

Dundalk may be ahead in terms of possession stats but they have yet to carve out any concrete opportunities so far

10'

Both sides are getting the ball down and passing it well so far. This is a fair acheivement given some of the weather encountered in Cork during the week. Sterling work from the groundsmen

3'

The champions have an early shout for a penalty as Patrick Hoban goes down in the box. Nothing given much to his frustration. And the amusement of the shed. It came after Daniel Kelly played him into space in the area.

On the front foot at the moment

GAME ON!

The game between Cork City and Dundalk has kicked off.

Dundalk kick proceedings off tonight.

0'

In team news, Neal Fenn welcomes Gary Buckley, Kevin O' Connor and Ronan Hurley to the matchday squad after all three recovered from injury. Buckley and Hurley start while Joel Coustrain steps down to the bench. Conor McCormack is fit following a knock in training. Shane Griffin misses out. Still an emphasis on youth players in this pentultimate league game.

Perth recalls the likes of Patrick Hoban from his suspension, while Gannon, McCarey and Duffy also come in

Good evening and welcome to Turners Cross. Tonight will see the final home game of the league campaign for this particular season. It would usually be the sign of a major clash in previous years. Many leagues have been won and lost in such occasions. Tonight is much different however. It has been a woeful campaign for the rebel army who just secured their league status last time out against UCD. If they, and Finn Harps, had been better, Cork City may not have been playing Premier Division football next year.

As it is, they have an opportunity to see out this season and begin the rebuilding process ahead of the next one. And it would be a major boost to defeat the league winners. Both games at Oriel Park ended in narrow losses, whilst the other game at the Cross finished 2-0 to Dundalk.

They will aim to recover from losing to Bohs in their previous game. That ended a a long un-defeated streak. Vinny Perth will have drilled into his players about accepting complacency.

Kick-off is in just under twenty minutes.
