Live Updates for St. Patrick's Athletic -v- Cork City

90' + 5'

The away side will be furious at the end here. In the end, all it took was a long ball flicked on to Simon Madden at the back post. He was in space and managed to shoot through the legs of McNulty. The home fans are obviously delighted at their late showing. Did they deserve it though? That is open to interpretation...

I wonder how a bleep machine would survive in the away dressing room at the moment.

90' + 5'

FULL TIME!

The game has ended between St. Patrick's Athletic and Cork City.

90' + 4'

Yellow Card

GearĂ³id Morrissey is booked for Cork City.

Morrissey is booked for protesting at the length of injury time. He has a point though. And so do the home side.

90' + 4'

GOAL!

Simon Madden scores for St. Patrick's Athletic.

An equaliser at the very death!

90' + 3'

Yellow Card

Karl Sheppard is booked for Cork City.

The scorer is booked for time wasting.

90' + 2'

Substitution

Cian Bargary replaces James Tilley for Cork City.

The last change by City. The youngster who scored in Belfield comes on here.

90' + 1'

Buckley strides past his marker on the break but his effort is just wide. Earlier, a misplaced pass by Tilley is all that seperates Daire O' Connor from a possible chance.

88'

Pats have gotten into decent positions at times in this game but a lot of their final delivery has been lamentable. Their recent attempt at a cross sails over the bar.

86'

Cotter in his unmistakable accent roars to his side to dig in now. This will do their confidence the world of good.

84'

Gary Buckley manages to stem the flow of another attack. Saints were launching the ball in but he intercepts the ball and comes forward. There is not many around him but manages to win the free to hold the play up again.

81'

Pats must be aware of trying to chase the game as they are playing a fairly high line. Especially as the City attackers continue to press them. All it takes is one slip or one precise pass and they are in again.

78'

Definitely more urgency shown by Pats here in the last few minutes as they chase the game. They need the requisite bit of quality to break down the rebels though.

77'

Substitution

James Doona replaces Darragh Markey for St. Patrick's Athletic.

Last subsitution for the home side

74'

Three City defenders/defensive players on yellow cards at the moment. They will have to be careful of further challenges.

73'

Yellow Card

Conor McCarthy is booked for Cork City.

The City defender is pulled up after coming through the back of his marker.

72'

McNulty almost causes palpatations for John Cotter. Not for the first time. The ball comes in and flicks off a City defender. He tries to stop it going out but only manages to keep it in play. The players in front of him are aware enough to hack it away.

69'

Substitution

Jamie Lennon replaces Chris Forrester for St. Patrick's Athletic.

Pats deciding to change things up

67'

Yellow Card

Conor McCormack is booked for Cork City.

Yellow for the City midfielder after conceding a silly free. The resulting set-piece causes danger but Walker heads over after Kevin O' Connor pressures him.

65'

Could have been two. Sheppard holds his run to stay onside. He beats his marker to clip in a cross. It finds Daire O' Connor at the back post who heads over under pressure.

63'

The goalscorer, Sheppard, is down at the moment after a clash of heads. He won't want to come off.

62'

Impressive approach it has to be said in this period. Cotter clearly has urged his players forward and informed Tilley to get on the ball more.

60'

Yellow Card

Dean Clarke is booked for St. Patrick's Athletic.

Clarke is carded for that earlier foul

60'

City play the advantage after a foul on Tilley. Buckley plays it wide to Kevin O' Connor whose shot is saved by Clarke.

58'

How will Saints react to going behind? It has been mainly City going forward so far but a chance from a corner. Kelly's header is straight at McNulty though.

56'

McCarthy smacks one over the bar but is already called for offside. Looked very tight.

53'

Buckley advances down the left wing. His marker slips which allows him to move into the area. His cross is flicked home expertly by Sheppard. Good link up and clever play by Buckley.

53'

GOAL!

Karl Sheppard scores for Cork City.

City ahead here

52'

Tilley seems up for it now. He skips past a few challenges and unleashes a shot from distance. Just past the post again.

51'

And a chance for City. The ball is played into Tilley. His chest control is great, he turns but his effort is just wide.

50'

Good chance here for Pats. Yet again it is Bermingham causing issues down the left flank. His cross is well placed but Walker's flicked header is just past the post.

48'

Free kick to City after a foul on Buckley. Why did they have to stop and hold play up though? A quick free could have been more rewarding. As it is, it comes to nothing.

46'

No personnel changes at the break and no real tactical switches so far either. City have been more in the opposition half though

46'

Second Half

The second half between St. Patrick's Athletic and Cork City has started.

Here is hoping for better in this half.

45' + 4'

A lovely evening here in Inchicore, two sides capable of playing decent football and a passionate crowd. It just has not happened so far though. Both teams need the points for different reasons. Neither has down enough to really deserve it. Yet. Considering the amount of away journeys City have had recently, a lack of energy is perhaps not surprising.

45' + 4'

Half Time

It is half-time between St. Patrick's Athletic and Cork City.

45' + 3'

A shot from Kevin Toner comes in but it is well over the bar. Much better is needed in the second-half.

45'

The home fans howl for a penalty. Drennan weaves inside McCarthy who tugs him back. The reaction is delayed and the referee is not interested

44'

Chance for Pats at the back post. The corner is swung in and the defender is unmarked. His header is straight at McNulty though.

43'

Good movement from the Pats forward players. Drennan plays it inside and it eventually finds Jake Walker. His effort is blocked out by McCarthy.

41'

Sheppard has come all the way back in order to try and win the ball. He is fouled and looking in pain at the moment. The fans take their chance to roar abuse at his folically challenged status and his former associations with Shamrock Rovers.

38'

The Leesiders have shown far more promise in the last few minutes than in the rest of the game. Hopefully this bodes well for the supporters here tonight. And the neutrals watching.

36'

Karl Sheppard intercepts a pass and plays the ball inside. No City player in the area in time to take advantage however.

35'

Daire O' Connor kicks the ball up and runs at the Pats defense. His curling effort goes just wide, It is tipped past the post but no corner given.

34'

Substitution

Jake Walker replaces Gary Shaw for St. Patrick's Athletic.

Shaw who has been in the wars so far is forced to come off here. Pity as he has looked a threat.

33'

McCarthy makes contact with his head but lacks the power to trouble Clarke. An effort on target though!

32'

First corner for City. And then another

30'

A game that is crying out for a goal really. Far too fragmented at the moment. Another player down at the moment. Very few clear opportunities for either side yet

27'

A distinct lack of runners so far for the away side. The likes of Buckley, Morrissey and others need to be pushing up for any potential knock downs.

24'

Can that be counted as an attempt at goal for Cork? Tilley swings in a free but the contact sees it go harmlessly wide. Small crumbs so far

22'

City almost go behind from their own mistake. Gary Buckley is casual in losing the ball just outside his area. The cross comes in but Michael Drennan is unable to make contact with his header. It appears he may have been nudged when it came in

20'

It is not a free-kick in the end but a drop ball. Clarke gets to make himself known in the game. He is getting slightly bored.

17'

Yellow Card

Sean McLoughlin is booked for Cork City.

McLoughlin penalised for a barge through the back of Gary Shaw. He seems to disagree with it.

16'

McNulty put under severe pressure from a back-pass by Gearoid Morrissey but he manages to clear. The throw-in results in a foul and another free to Pats. It comes to nothing

15'

Webster concedes a pointless foul to allow for a City free-kick. It is wasted though.

12'

First real involvement by Brendan Clarke but it is just to collect a back-pass. Cork have not really been anywhere near the Saints keeper so far.

11'
St. Pats well in control from the early moments. Cross in by Ian Birmingham cleared away by Sean McLoughlin

10'

Substitution

Daire O'Connor replaces Shane Griffin for Cork City.

Shane Griffin looks in pain as he is forced to leave the pitch. These injuries are making the game very stop-start.

8'

Ian Bermingham makes a break after that free-kick and floats in a dangerous cross. It is cleared by Sean McLoughlin when it seems McNulty had called for it. Kelly picks it up but his effort is cleared away by McCarthy. The resulting set piece is cleared but a City player is down now.

6'

Gary Shaw is down at the moment following a clash of heads with McCarthy. He looks pretty dazed at the moment. Interesting to see what will occur now after the events in Dalymount recently.

4'

A shade scrapy at this stage. Forrestor hoists in a free-kick but City manage to clear it out. A break is on but McCarthy is blocked off. No real ebb or flow just yet

3'

GAME ON!

The game between St. Patrick's Athletic and Cork City has kicked off.

Cork City are planning into the sun in this half. It could issues to Mark McNulty in the visitors net
