FULL TIME!

The game has ended between Shamrock Rovers and Derry City.

86'

Substitution

Shane McNamee replaces Ben Fisk for Derry City.

85'

Substitution

Sean Boyd replaces Daniel Carr for Shamrock Rovers.

83'

Nice link-up between Bolger and Carr, and the former gets to the byline on the right and crosses deep into the box, but there's nobody on the end to profit from it.

81'

A free kick in from Fisk is well-headed clear and Rovers look to break quickly, but Bolger can't find Miele with his pass.

79'

Yellow Card

Jamie McDonagh is booked for Derry City.

78'

Miele is right in the thick of the action, exchanging passes with Bone before shooting from the corner of the box, but his effort is a long way off-target.

77'

Substitution

Aaron Bolger replaces Joel Coustrain for Shamrock Rovers.

77'

Substitution

Brandon Miele replaces Brandon Kavanagh for Shamrock Rovers.

71'

Substitution

Adrian Delap replaces Ronan Hale for Derry City.

69'

Another water break here, as Aidy Delap warms up for Derry ahead of his introduction.

69'

Yellow Card

Rory Hale is booked for Derry City.

68'

Finn picks out Brandon Kavanagh in acres out wide with a quick free kick, but his first-time cross is poor.

65'

GOAL!

Joel Coustrain scores for Shamrock Rovers. There didn't seem to be a whole lot on but Rovers quickly spread the play and made some space on the edge of the box, working it to Carr. He swivelled and shot, which was half-blocked by Eoin Toal, and Coustrain is on hand to bundle in his second goal in two games.

65'

Big shout for a penalty from the home crowd as Coustrain falls down on the edge of the box. Referee Rob Rogers is adamant and, to be fair, Coustrain makes no appeal. I think he just fell over.

62'

Best spell of the match so far for Derry but Rovers still look fairly comfortable defending.

58'

Odd one as Finn plays a pass for Carr on the right but, thinking he's offside, the striker leaves it and Finn gets on the end of his own pass! His cross finds Sean Kavanagh at the back post, who controls and volleys straight at Doherty. Derry break quickly and Fisk has a pop at goal, but it's a comfortable low save for Bazunu. Game is opening up a bit now, which will suit Derry more than Rovers.

56'

Chance for Derry as McDonagh swings in a free kick from deep and Eoin Toal has a free header at the back post, but he doesn't make proper contact and heads past the post. Let-off for the Hoops.

55'

Yellow Card

Joel Coustrain is booked for Shamrock Rovers.

54'

So much space for Rovers to play into. This time Carr plays Brandon Kavanagh in, and he has to check his run at the Derry defence gets back, and he bends his shot straight into Doherty's arms.

54'

Apologies for the slow pace of updates - we've had a few server problems but they're sorted now. You'll be glad to know you missed absolutely nothing.

47'

Peers on at the break for McDermott, who's not a natural centre-half. Always seemed an odd tactical decision with Darren Cole also playing in midfield.

46'

Substitution

Gavin Peers replaces Conor McDermott for Derry City.

46'

Second Half

The second half between Shamrock Rovers and Derry City has started.

45' + 3'

Half Time

It is half-time between Shamrock Rovers and Derry City.

45' + 2'

GOAL!

Daniel Carr scores for Shamrock Rovers. What a time to score - with just seconds remaining in injury time. Joel Coustrain and Sean Kavanagh exchange passes down the right, and Coustrain just shows more desire to outrun Ronan Hale and put in his cross. Dan Carr has to reach behind him to control, but from there it's a wonderful finish, the Trinidadian volleying into the top corner.

45'

Patient build-up play from Rovers ends with Brandon Kavanagh picking out Sean Kavanagh with a cross-field pass. He has lots of time to come forward and line up a dipping shot that's straight at Doherty.

43'

Another chance for Rovers as Ronan Finn drives from distance and Gerard Doherty can only palm it in front of him, and there's nobody following up for the rebound.

42'

That's the best chance of the game so far for Derry. A poor header from Roberto Lopes sees the ball sit up for Patterson, but he puts his volley past the post.

41'

The amount of room Rovers are finding on the left-hand side is incredible, and it seems only a matter of time before Derry pay for it. Another good ball across the box from Sean Kavanagh, but nobody there to get on the end of it.

39'

Another half-chance for Rovers as Bone picks out Carr on the left wing, and his low ball across the box is just too far for Coustrain. From the recycled ball, Carr should score from point blank but he somehow puts it over. The striker's embarrassment is spared, however, as the offside flag was up.

38'

A foul throw called against Jamie McDonagh - there's a rarity.

36'

Rovers are knocking on the door here. Dan Carr holds the ball up and picks out Sean Kavanagh on the overlap, and his low cross is cleared only as far as Carr, who has time to line up his volley but can't wrap his foot around it. That was a good chance.

34'

After much wrangling, McDonagh rolls the ball to  Patterson, but the move is telegraphed and the wall is out quickly to charge down his shot.

33'

Free kick for Derry here just a few yards outside the box, and it looks like Rory Pattterson is going to strike at goal.

31'

Another tidy passage of play from Rovers sees McAllister tee up Bone to for a shot from 25 yards, which whistles not far past the post. Gerard Doherty likely had it covered, but there was plenty of weight behind the shot.

30'

16-year-old Gavin Bazunu has looked very assured in everything he's done so far. No saves to make yet, but he's fielded every cross sent his way and dealt with a couple of uncharitable backpasses.

29'

A good tackle from Sean Kavanagh on Ronan Hale sees the ball ricochet off the linesman's leg and takes him down like a skittle! A strike from the former Fulham man.

23'

Water break here - it's starting to cool down out there (and here in the stand, where it's freezing).

22'

A good run from Ben Doherty sees him get to the byline and whip in a cross to the back post, but Ronan Hale can't get his foot over the ball as he volleys well over.

21'

More positive play from Rovers as Sam Bone plays a through-ball for Joel Coustrain running in from the opposite side. He's tackled by Conor McDermott and the ball goes out off the Rovers winger, but the officials wrongly give a corner. There'd be a debate if Rovers manage to score from the corner, but they give away a free out instead.

20'

A lovely delivery from Fisk is begging for a Derry player to get a head on it but Bazunu is out decisively to take it at the second attempt.

18'

Great chance for Rovers! Doherty's long clearance is brilliantly taken down by Sean Kavanagh, and a one-touch move involving Ronan Finn puts Brandon Kavanagh clear on goal. He tries to nick the ball past Doherty, but the keeper gets a touch to put it behind.

16'

Rovers break quickly and Ronan Finn finds himself bursting past the defence. He takes the ball a little wide, but he gets his shot away and forces Ger Doherty to parry clear. From the resulting throw-in, Rovers work the ball to Dave McAllister, but his shot is well over the bar.

15'

The Derry full-backs are really pushing on, and Derry stretch the play with a cross-field pass finding McDonagh in space, but his cross is far too close to Gavin Bazunu.

13'

Great chance for Dan Carr as he's played into the box by Brandon Kavanagh. He does brilliantly to cut back inside Conor McDermott and onto his left foot, should score but he pulls his shot past the post.

12'

McDonagh swings in the corner but he fails to beat the first man.

11'

Bit scrappy so far, with neither side putting much in the way of fluid passages together. Brandon Kavanagh attempts a ball over the top for Dan Carr but it's well overhit. At the other end, Derry win a corner...

8'

A Rovers free kick swung in from a similar position to Derry's a few moments ago, on the right-hand edge of the box, and this time it's Conor McDermott who heads clear.

6'

No Tomer Chencinski today for Rovers, meaning we're denied a League of Ireland first in seeing two Canadian internationals start on opposite sides.

5'

A free kick whipped in by Jamie McDonagh towards the back post, but it's a good clearing header from Lee Grace.

2'

Jamie McDonagh lining up at right-back for the Candystrips, with the new man Ben Fisk wide on the left. Rovers playing with four at the back, with Joey O'Brien and Sean Kavanagh the full-backs.

1'

We're underway here in Tallaght, the home side shooting into the Square end in the first half.

GAME ON!

The game between Shamrock Rovers and Derry City has kicked off.

0'

The last time these sides met in Tallaght, in March of this year, Rovers ran out 6-1 winners. Four of those goals were scored by Graham Burke, who has since become an international and joined Preston North End. Derry's own (under-21) international striker, Ronan Curtis, has also moved on, to Portsmouth. So there's changes for both sides, with Canadian international Ben Fisk going straight into the Derry team, while David McAllister comes in for the suspended Greg Bolger for Rovers.
