Live Updates for Longford Town -v- Wexford

Updates by

90' + 3'

FULL TIME!

A much needed win for the home side but they made hard work of it. On this performance it's hard to see them getting anything away to the Champions next Saturday night. Credit to Wexford who were the better team.

90'

3 minutes of additional time to be played here and the home supporters suddenly find their voices.

86'

Yellow Card

Chris Bennion is booked for Longford Town.

85'

GOAL!

Just when Town need a goal and badly up pops substitute Gary Shaw to put them back in front. It's going to be a nervy few minutes here.

81'

GOAL!

Eric Molloy scores for Wexford Youths.

77'

A frustrated Town supporter has vented his anger at his side's performance by shouting out - you threw away the league, don't throw this away. '

74'

Substitution

Wexford make a change; Danny Fitzpatrick is on for Daryl Power.

73'

Substitution

Town make their final change; Gary Shaw replaces Josh O'Hanlon.

72'

Wexford keeper Graham Doyle pulls off a fine save to deny Josh O'Hanlon but the linesman had the flag up. Still a good save by the keeper.

66'

The only thing that is keeping me awake here is the banging of a drum and the singing and chanting of the Wexford supporters. Fair play to them. They have not stopped since the start of the game.

64'

Substitution

Town make their second change; Derek O'Brien comes on for Dean Ebbe.

60'

This game needs something to liven it up and fast. No chances of note created by either side in this half.

58'

Yellow Card

David O'Neill is booked for Longford Town.

49'

Wexford have started this half with a real purpose.

46'

Second Half

Second half is underway

45' + 1'

Half Time

I'm now going for a well deserved cuppa and a bar of chocolate.. They are much needed.

45'

One minute of additional time to be played here. Half-time can't come quick enough.

40'

This is dire stuff and I really don't blame people from staying away. Some of the football this season has been very poor.

37'

Wexford come oh so close to equalising. Darragh Walshe's shot looked to have beaten Town netminder Chris Bennion but it narrowly went the wrong side of the post. A real let-off for the home side.

34'

The league's top scorer David O'Sullivan goes racing through and from a tight angle it looked like he was going to get a decent shot in but he blasts the ball way over the bar.

32'

I was about to say that the home side don't look like or are playing like a team that want to push for a play-off spot and then what happens.

30'

GOAL!

And just when they needed a goal up pops Rhys Gorman with a lovely finish to give the home side the lead.

29'

Yellow Card

Robert Maloney is booked for Wexford Youths.

25'

Shane Clarke has a good chance for Wexford but his effort just went wide.

20'

Wexford are after creating  few chances which Chris Bennion has been able to deal with. They are putting it up to the home side.

17'

Substitution

Town have to make a change; David O'Neill is on for Noel Haverty.

11'

They force a few corners in a row but nothing comes of them.

10'

Daniel Purdy's low drive is deflected out for a corner.

8'

The visiting supporters are paying homage to their favourite son Kevin Doyle.

7'

Graham Delaney has a chance for Youths but his effort gets a deflection out for a corner.

5'

The home side have started this game well. They know a win is a must tonight. Simple as but the visitors will not let them have it their own way.

4'

Yellow Card

Wexford striker Graham Delaney gets booked for a foul on Dean Ebbe.

2'

It's not surprising that there's a very small crowd here for the game. The visitors have brought a small but noisy bunch with them. Town's poor form of late has played its part on people going to the game.

1'

GAME ON!

The visitors get the game underway.

Welcome to City Calling Stadium for this evening's penultimate league game. The question Longford Town fans are asking is will this be their last home game of the season or will they make the play-offs. The next two games will give us the answer.
