Live Updates for Dundalk -v- Galway United

Updates by

90'

FULL TIME!

Game over. Dundalk 6 - 1 Galway

80'
As you can imagine with only ten minutes remaining the tempo has died off quickly as everyone would like the final whistle to go to put an end to this rather one sided contest.

77'

Substitution

Galway Sub - Sean Connor makes his final sub as Eric Holland comes on for Karl Moore.

73'

Substitution

Dundalk Sub - Jason Byrne returns to action, coming on in place of Mark Quigley.

72'

Substitution

Galway Sub - Rory Gartlan replaces Shaun Kelly.

72'
On the goal, Mark Quigley once again working his magic and the midfielder set the ball up beautifully for Breen who just had to tap it home.

71'

GOAL!

Johnny Breen gets the sixth for Dundalk.

68'
Breen is fouled and Dundalk have a free in a dangerous position, but the shot is deflected into the arms of Fleming.

66'
A corner for Galway turns into attack from Dundalk as Gaynor bursts clear down the wing but his eventual cross goes straight out.

64'

Substitution

Dundalk double Sub - A cheer goes up when Stephen Maher is introduced in place of Keith Ward, this is his first appearance since March 25th. Johnny Breen also comes on while Mark Griffin makes way.

62'
Talk about a night for Bolger, he is a whisker away from getting his hat-trick as Madden comes steaming into the box and cuts it back to the striker and only for a fleming save he would be celebrating his third goal. It has to be said, that depsite  the scoreline Fleming has been Galway's best player.

60'
There are only 650 people here, as the offical attendance figure comes across the desk.

58'
Dundalk let their guard down, sensing that the job is done and from a corner Gary Kelly fires home unmarked.

57'

GOAL!

Gary Kelly pulls one back for the visitors

53'
Once again Dundalk come streaming forward, just a note, the biggest win for this side is 9-0, a score they managed twice....are we on or the hat-trick tonight?

53'
On that goal (possibly my most used phrase tonight) Greg Bolger worked himself into a great position and sent in a superb delivery which saw Griffin rise highest and head hard past Fleming.

52'

GOAL!

It never rains but it pours and poor Galway are getting soaked, both literally and figuratively. Mark Griffin makes it 5-0 to Dundalk.

51'

Yellow Card

Galway defender Shaun Kelly is booked.

49'

Substitution

Galway Sub - Sean Connor has to do something and he withdraws Bobby Ryan to be replaced by Ronan Caldwell.

47'
On that goal, Keith Ward's first for the club..looks like it is a night for lads popping their scoring cherry in Dundalk

47'

GOAL!

Keith Ward gets Dundalk's fourth and it is Goodnight Vienna for Galway

46'

GOAL!

Mark Quigley gets in on the action with Dundalk's third.

46'

Second Half

The teams are out on the pitch and we are underway once again.

45'

Half Time

So the ref calls time on the half, if this were a boxing match Sean Connor would be chucking the towel in or the ref would be blowing to stop it, as it is there is 45 minutes left, can Galway salvage anything in the second half, my honest opinion is no, the team lack and real confidence and thre is very little support for them in Oriel.

45'

GOAL!

Greg Bolger scores a second for Dundalk. Mark Quigley dinks the ball beautifully over the Galway defence into the path of Greg Bolger who finishes low past the helpless Fleming. It looks like Galway are set for their 14th defeat on the bounce.

41'
Daniel Kearns gets in to smash up a Galway attack and the lilywhites clear. The Tribesmen are playing with a little more confidence now.

40'
Dundalk waste their corner and Galway break and win a corner off Bennett

38'
Gaynor has a low shot from a free 25 yards out which is deflected behind for a corner

34'
Nervous moments for Dundalk and Cherie in particular as a bit of slack defending allows Alan Murphy get into the box unopposed and he picks out Eduardo Dusi who's shot stings the palms of the scrambling goalkeeper and he gathers at the second time of asking.

30'
Mark Quigley has been at the heart of the majority of Dundalk's moves and the midfielder once again tries to link up with Griffin but Fleming comes racing off his line intercept.

26'
A small worry for the Louth side as Shaun Kelly needlessly concedes a freekick when he has ample time to clear, but Galway fail to take advantage of the gift.

25'
It's been all Dundalk and they have gotten their reward so far, but they look to try and get a few more scores before the half is out.

23'

Dundalk go in search of a second as Ward has a shot on goal, but Fleming once again holds what has to be a horrribly horribly wet ball.

21'
On that goal, Bolger's first for the club, a wicked deflection ultimatly resulted in Fleming being wrong footed, but some good build up play involving Gaynor and Quigley resulted in the scoring shot. Could we be on for a rout here as Galway heads drop.

20'

GOAL!

Greg Bolger gives the homeside the lead!

19'
Fleming is called into action once again from a Quigley shot, Dundalk keep pressing but a poor delivery from the left allows Galway regroup and clear the danger.

19'

From nothing to something, Bobby Ryan hits a screamer from 25 yards out forcing Cherie into a diving save, however the Dundalk back four hold up well from the resultant corner and then it's the home side's turn to break as Quigely has a pop from 20 yards out but Fleming saves and holds onto the slick ball.

17'
Galway attack, but it comes to nought and Dundalk are quick to counter as Quigley sends in a cross but once again there is no one to meet it.

15'
Still scoreless here, Dundalk have looked the hungrier, but their finishing just hasnt been up to scratch.

11'
Quigley eyes an opening and slots a clever ball through to Griffin, but the pass is a tad too heavy and runs through to Fleming who clears for Galway.

9'
The weather here is really affecting play, neither side can really get a good attack going.

6'
From the subsequent set piece Gaynor's low effort was met by the on rushing Quigley, but from a tight angle he skewed his effort just wide. Positive play from the hosts.

5'
Dundalk are awarded the first free of the night as Griffin is fouled in a good position on the right wing.

3'
Ross Gaynor breaks down the win and sends a nicely weighted ball into the six yard box, but there was no one there to connect.

1'

GAME ON!

And we are underway, Galway are quick off the blocks and Cherie hesitates almost allowing the visitors in, but Gilmore sneaks in to clear the ball.

0'
Bit of a delay here, but the teams are arriving on to a very slick pitch, but seeing as it is an all weather surface we should expect some free flowing football...right...

0'
Galway are hoping to end a run of 13 defeats and Dundalk are massive favourites for this game, does anyone think that the Tribesmen can cause an upset tonight????

0'
Welcome to Oriel Park for tonight's LOI match between Dundalk and Galway, Ian Foster has been forced into an early change with Colin Hawkins injurying his hamstring in the pre-match warm-up and Dean Bennet has been drafted in.
