Former Coleraine star Brad Lyons offered new Blackburn Rovers contract

Former Coleraine star Brad Lyons has been offered a new contract at Blackburn Rovers as the Lancashire club confirmed their retained list on Wednesday morning.

Lyons arrived at Ewood Park in August 2018 after an impressive campaign with the Bannsiders as he helped them finish 2nd in the Dankse Bank Premiership and win the Irish Cup after a 3-1 victory against Cliftonville.

He would then go on loan to work with his former Coleraine boss Oran Kearney at St Mirren in 2018/19 as the Buddies completed a remarkable escape to stay in the Scottish Premiership.

Lyons scored three goals in his first 13 appearances for the club including a brace against Arsenal under 23's.

In 2019/20 he made 11 appearances in the Premier League 2 and scored twice as well as claiming two assists.

After receiving the news the midfielder tweeted "Big year and season ahead".

Danny Graham, Stewart Downing, Dominic Samuel, Jayson Leutwiler, Richie Smallwood and Sam Hart have all signed contract extensions until the day after the final fixture of the current campaign.

Blackburn Rovers sit 8th in the Championship table just one point behind Lancashire rivals Preston North End who occupy the final playoff spot.

They returned to action with a 3-1 victory over Bristol City at Ewood Park last Saturday with Corry Evans scoring the equaliser before picking up the the man of the match award as he returned from a serious head injury.
