Republic of Ireland set to finish Euro 2021 qualifiers by the end of the year as dates rescheduled

The Republic of Ireland will finish their UEFA Women's EURO 2021 qualifiers this year with re-scheduled dates for their three remaining Group I games.

Vera Pauw's side sit of the group but have a tough run-in, beginning with an away trip to World Cup quarter-finalists Germany on September 19^th.

They travel to Ukraine on October 23rd finally finish up by welcoming Germany for the return fixture on December 1^st.

Undefeated with 13 points from 5 games, the Girls in Green will be optimistic of qualifying for the finals in England in the summer of 2022, having been postponed for 12 months.

“It is fantastic to receive confirmation from UEFA that we will return to action this year and get to finish out our group games,” said assistant manager Eileen Gleeson.

“There is a lot of work to do in advance of those games, especially with some of our players' club seasons still undetermined while some at varying stages of returning to play.

"It is important to note that the fight against COVID-19 continues and that while we are excited by the prospect of football returning, we must continue to follow Government & HSE regulations.

“This is our first battle to overcome, then we have turn our focus to our games.”

The nine group winners and the three runners-up with the best record against the sides in their group will automatically qualify for finals which are postponed until July 2020.

The 6 remaining runners-up will go into the playoffs held in April 2021.
