Famous faces continue to get behind #HeadsUpVariety challenge

How would you like to win a football signed by Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo to name just a few?

Are you up for a challenge?

Variety, the Children’s Charity of Ireland, want to see who can do the most headers of a football in Ireland and would also love to see your video evidence of your best or funniest attempts.

Founded in 1951, Variety will next year celebrate their 70th anniversary in Ireland next year and want to share the celebrations with you. As a volunteer run charity, they focus on providing vital mobility and educational equipment for schools around the country.

Variety do not receive any government grants or funding so raising funds from text and online donations at present is vital for children who are vulnerable or have special needs in Ireland.

Thanks to the generous donations of people in this country the charity has been able to spend almost 70 years helping where it is needed most.

The mobility and much needed equipment provided includes Sunshine Coaches, Liberty Swings, Adapted wheelchairs, iPads and Sensory equipment.

The 'HeadsUp' challenge is something that anyone can take part in. They want all ages, genders and abilities to give it a go, have fun and at the same time raising money for one of Ireland's oldest children’s charities.

The challenge has been taken up in several countries and hopes to reach every continent. Why not be the first in your club, village, town or city to go 'HeadsUp'.

Some well-known faces have already given it a go including Irish snooker legend Ken Doherty, comedian PJ Gallagher, Irish soccer legend Niall Quinn, Ireland international and Peamount United player Aine O'Gorman.

How do I take part?

Record a video or take a photo while wearing your club, country or favourite jersey doing as many headers as you can.

Try to get five or more headers in a row and then nominate others to do the same or to see can they beat you.

Be sure to share your video or photo across social media using the hashtag #HEADSUPVARIETY and tag Variety Ireland. The funnier the better, get creative with your videos.

Text the word 'Headsup' to 50300 to donate €4.00 (Variety Childrens Charity will receive a minimum of €3.60).
