TG4 will be the home of classic football throughout the summer with the station scheduled to screen archived matches from the beginning of May.

The ‘World Cup Gold’ series will start with the Republic of Ireland’s run at the Italia ‘90 World Cup and feature their group stage game against England.

Kicking off on Friday 1st May at 7.30pm, it will offer viewers the chance to wistfully reconnect with the memories of the adventure that Jack Charlton’s squad embarked on.

The World Cup Gold series will explore many interesting matches, including the Republic of Ireland vs Italy (USA 1994 FIFA World Cup) and Argentina's matches against England and West Germany in the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
