Former Drogheda United striker Lee Duffy to appear on Late Late Show to discuss Covid-19 battle

Former Drogheda United and Longford Town striker Lee Duffy will appear on Friday’s Late Late Show to discuss his recent battle with Covid-19.

The Dubliner tested positive for the condition three weeks ago and spent eight days in hospital on a ventilator after suffering serious effects from the virus.

28-year-old Duffy has made a full recovery and will appear on the show to urge young people to follow HSE guidelines and heed warnings regarding social distancing and gatherings.

Duffy, who has most recently been playing in Northern Ireland with Warrenpoint Town and Newry City, warned his peers to ‘not take this lightly, it is very serious’ following his ordeal.

“As some of you may or may not know, I tested positive for Covid-19 two weeks ago,” Duffy tweeted on Saturday night.

“I spent eight days in hospital hooked up to oxygen as I could no longer breathe on my own, scared not knowing what was going to happen.

“Luckily I got through it and I’m starting to feel a lot better now. My advice to everybody is to not take this lightly, it is very serious.”
