James McClean fined two weeks wages by Stoke City

Stoke City have fined Republic of Ireland International James McClean two weeks wages following a post that appeared on his Instagram account on Thursday. 

McClean has also agreed to delete his Instagram account. 

He posted the picture of himself sitting in front of his two young children in a black paramilitary-style balaclava.

The picture is captioned: “Today's school lesson – history' and is accompanied by a laughing emoji.

McClean has been fined two weeks’ wages by the Club and has also agreed to delete his Instagram account.

The player has expressed regret over the incident and recognises that the post was ill advised and offensive.

He said: “I never wanted to cause any offence but I now realise that I did so and for that I apologise unreservedly. I have spoken to the Club and will be deleting my Instagram account.”

The Club and the player will be making no further comment on the matter.

Micheal O'Neill's men are currently 17th in the Championship with 42 points.
