Longford Town's Dean Byrne continues recovery following successful surgeryWed, Mar 18 2020
First Division Longford Town have confirmed that forward Dean Byrne has undergone successful surgery after picking up a long-term injury.
Byrne was struck down with in jury on the opening night of the season against Shamrock Rovers II – as Longford earned a two-nil win over the Hoops second string.
In a tweet released by Longford Town, the club have wished the forward well in his recovery.
Byrne’s latest injury is his second long-term injury picked up while at Longford Town, with his first coming in the 2018 campaign.
After coming his initial long-term injury in 2018, Byrne established himself as one of the stars of the 2019 First Division.
In the 2019 campaign – the Dubliner was named in the PFAI First Division Team of the Year, and he also received a nomination for the second tier’s PFAI Player of the Year award.
Shortly after confirmation of his successful surgery – Byrne praised the club for their continued support of him through his latest setback.
