Former Waterford and Cork City midfielder Gavan Holohan pens new deal with Hartlepool

Former Cork City and Waterford midfield star Gavan Holohan has signed a new two-year contract extension with Hartlepool United.

Holohan has spent the last year with Hartlepool after departing Waterford at the conclusion of the 2018 campaign.

The 28-year-old was also previously of Drogheda United and Galway United before he made the switch to England in January 2019.

“I’m delighted to get it done – it’s been in the pipeline for a few weeks, so I’m pleased to get it over the line,” Holohan told Hartlepool’s media team.

“It shows the Manager’s intent for next season that he wants to get people tied down so once I knew there was interest in getting something done, I was delighted to do it as quickly as possible.

“I feel like I have come a long way in a year, and this shows the faith the Club has in me, so I really appreciate it and I hope to repay it over the next couple of years.

“I know where I’m going to be now, and I can really look forward and kick-on.

“The way my career has gone, I have been looking for somewhere I can call home and I feel like I have found that here, so I am delighted to extend my stay.”
