Finn Harps sign Austrian striker Alexander Kogler ahead of Cork City trip

Finn Harps have confirmed the signing of Austrian striker Alexander Kogler from 2. Bundesliga side Grazer AK.

The 22-year-old was previously on the books of German side FC Ingolstadt and Austrian club Wacker Innsbruck before joining second-tier side Grazer.

He had initially been expected to sit out Friday night’s league clash with Cork City at Turner’s Cross due to a suspension from Austria but has now been cleared to play.

The forward, who previously played in Ireland for Austria in a pair of under-19 defeats to the Republic of Ireland in 2016, will wear number 30 for the Donegal club.

Kogler is the third striker in the entrance at Finn Park this season following the arrival of Karl O’Sullivan from Limerick and Cameron Saul from Greenville Triumph in the United States.

“Alex is a good player and more importantly a good lad which is what we’re all about,” manager Ollie Horgan told the club’s website.

“He’ll hopefully give us something extra at that end of the pitch and help us get where we want to be.”
