Aaron Brilly concludes Athlone spell as he joins Terry Butler at Leixlip United

Leinster Senior League outfit Leixlip United have unveiled the signing of former Athlone Town defender Aaron Brilly.

The former Cabinteely and Longford Town player joins former his former Athlone manager Terry Butler at Leixlip.

Butler was recently appointed as Leixlip’s new manager after his departure from Athlone, with Adrian Carberry recently installed as his successor.

In addition, United have also confirmed the signing of former Home Farm star Ciaran O’Sullivan along with Brilly.

Aaron is a defender who joined Longford Town in August 2012 and was part of the club's U19 squad for 2012/13.

He also made his league debut shortly after joining, appearing for Tony Cousins' senior side in a 1-0 defeat away to Finn Harps on 13 October 2102.

In 2013 Aaron captained the club's U19 team and also appeared in both of Longford's Leinster Senior Cup ties.

In 2015 Aaron joined league newcomers Cabinteely FC and played in their first ever league game, a 1-0 win over Wexford Youths on 6 March 2015.

He went onto make 19 league appearances during the 2015 campaign as Cabinteely finished bottom of the First Division and added 26 more in 2016 when Cabinteely finished seventh of eight in the First Division table.

In February 2017 Aaron signed for Athlone Town where he was to remain until May of that year, before joining Leinster Senior League Home Farm.

He then returned to Lissywoolen ahead of the 2018 season, where he spent a further two years at the club under previous boss Terry Butler and his predecessor Aaron Callaghan.  

While with the Blue and Black of the Midlands, he made 43 league appearances for the club.
