Derry City sign Norwegian forward Tim Nilsen

Premier Division Derry City have unveiled the signing of Norwegian forward Tim Nilsen ahead of the 2020 campaign.

The 27-year-old joins the Candystripes after impressing during Wednesday’s friendly win over Finn Harps at the Brandywell.

He netted a first-half brace before signing on the dotted line at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

Nilsen has spent most of his career in his home country, most recently playing with Fredrikstad FK where he scored 32 goals in 53 appearances.

The forward has also played for Swedish side Ljunskile and Russian club Khimki.  The 27 year old has been training with the club for a number of days and featured in Tuesday night’s game.

“He has a high pedigree in his past as a player,” Derry boss Declan Devine told his club’s media team.

“We were reluctant to play him against Finn Harps because we’d seen enough about him and had done our homework on him, he was certainly everything we’d look for to bring to the club.”
