Former Waterford striker Aaron Drinan joins Ayr United on loan from Ipswich Town

Irish striker Aaron Drinan has today completed a loan move from Ipswich Town to Scottish Championship side Ayr United until the end of the season.

The former Waterford FC man signed for the tractor boys in 2018 after some impressive performances in the League of Ireland First Division but has until now been unable to make a breakthrough to the first team.

It will be Drinan’s 4th loan spell of his career having spent time at Sutton FC in the National League and a return to his former club Waterford.

Most recently, a spell in Sweden saw him make eight appearances for GAIS who finished 12th in the Superettan, Sweden’s top-flight.

He will be hoping that this will be the one that helps him rediscover the goal scoring ability which saw him net twice in the UEFA Youth League for Cork City against Roma and HJK Helsinki respectfully in the 16/17 season.

Ayr manager Mark Kerr said today about the singing; “He is a different striker to what we have got already; he has good height and will be able to stretch the game for us.

“He has already had a couple of loans and played for Ireland under-21s, so we are getting him at the right time. Aaron is hungry to succeed, and we are thrilled to have got him.”
