Longford Town snap up former Dundalk under-19 star Aaron McNally

First Division Longford Town have unveiled the acquisition of former Dundalk underage star Aaron McNally ahead of the 2020 campaign.

McNally joins from the Lilywhites as a highly-rated utility player – following on from Dylan Hand’s move from Oriel Park to Bishopsgate.

The 19-year-old featured in Dundalk’s Leinster Senior Cup defeat at home to Athlone Town last term.

He joined Drogheda United under-17s in July 2016 and also played with them in 2017.

In 2018 Aaron played with Longford Town's under-19 side and later that year he switched back to Dundalk to play for their under-19s.

The Maynooth University becomes the sixth new member of Longford Town’s squad for the 2020 campaign.

McNally has been featuring for Maynooth’s University side during the off-season, as they sealed their passage to the last eight of the CUFL Premier Division. They will now face UL in the quarter-finals.

He was also a part of the university’s Harding Cup campaign last year.
