Cory Galvin joins Cork from Munster rivals Waterford

Premier Division Cork City have unveiled the signing of highly-coveted midfielder Cory Galvin ahead of the 2020 season.

Galvin joins the Leesiders having spent the previous year and a half with Alan Reynolds’ Blues after a prior spell with both Cabinteely and Bray Wanderers.

Last season saw Galvin rack up three goals for Waterford, as he has since earned a move to his hometown club Cork City.

“Obviously, I’m delighted to be here,” the 23-year-old told his club’s media team.

“Being a Corkman, naturally I’m a Cork City supporter so I’m proud to have signed for the club.

“I know a few of the lads, so I’m looking forward to the start of pre-season, getting a feel for the squad and how Neale wants us to play and getting ready for the 2020 season.”

And City boss Neale Fenn added; “Cory is a very good midfield player. He’s young, eager to impress, and he’s local, which is exactly the type of player we want here.

“I’ve watched him many times over the last few years, for Waterford, Bray & Cabinteely, and he was a player that caught my eye, so we’re delighted to have him tied down for the 2020 season.”

Galvin’s recent arrival at Turners Cross follows news that winger Dylan McGlade has also signed for the club.
