17-year-old Ireland striker Troy Parrott set to make European bow against Bayern Munich

Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott is set to feature for Tottenham Hotspur in tonight’s Champions League tie with Bayern Munich.

The 17-year-old, who is the top scorer in the UEFA Youth League, has been left out of this afternoon’s under-19 squad, paving the way for his first senior European appearance.

Buckingham Street native Parrott made his league bow for the final five minutes of Saturday’s 5-0 win over Burnley at White Hart Lane.

And with Harry Kane and Deli Alli omitted from the squad for the dead rubber tie with Bayern, Parrott is likely to at least see some game time against the German champions.

Teenagers Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon, an eight-figure summer recruit from Fulham, are also expected to play a part after featuring at the weekend.

Parrott has scored four goals in four appearances for Stephen Kenny's under-21s and set up a goal for Sean Maguire on his senior international debut against New Zealand last month.

"One thing that I am not having is time, when I say time, I mean to know all my players well," said Spurs manager Jose Mourinho.

"This is a great opportunity for some of them to play, for some of them to show what they are capable of.

"A player in competition is different to a player training, some of my boys didn't have the chance to play many minutes in these five matches since I arrived.

"We try to mix a little bit these factors. We need to play for Tottenham, that is our responsibility but at the same time there are other things.

"We are going to have, as you all know, an incredible number of fixtures until the new year and I think it is understandable that we are going to make a few changes.

“We are going to rest a few players and give opportunities to other players."
