Troy Parrott on target once more as he moves top in UEFA Youth goalscoring

Another wonderstrike from Troy Parrott earned Tottenham Hotspur a 1-0 win over Olmypiacos and moved him to the top of the goalscoring charts with six

The Buckingham Street youngster had a quiet game by his own standards but lit up the game with a stunning strike early in the second half, a goal that proved to be the winner.

Parrott returned to the Spurs underage side having missed last month’s 2-0 defeat away to Crvena Zvezda due to his involvement with the first-team squad.

The prolific striker had bagged four in a resounding 9-2 win over the Serbian side a week earlier in London and his absence was keenly felt in Belgrade.

In between, Parrott made his full international debut, setting up Sean Maguire’s goal in a 3-1 friendly win over New Zealand.

He was an unused substitute for last week’s Euro 2020 qualifier draw with Denmark and returned to the under-21s, where he netted his fourth in four games in the 4-1 win over Sweden in Tallaght.

And he marked his return to the UEFA Youth League with a similar impact, stroking home spectacularly with a first-time right-footed shot from distance.

The 17-year-old had already uncharacteristically missed a one-on-one late in the first half when he was teed up by TJ Eyoma before curling a wonderful strike into the top corner.

That was his sixth goal in just four appearances this year, drawing level with Morgan Whittaker of Derby County.

Parrott made his senior debut for Spurs in their Caraboa Cup defeat to Colchester United in September and made the bench for a recent league match with Everton in Harry Kane’s absence.

He’s yet to be handed another chance at senior level for his club, however, and may find options limited following Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking and the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
