Drogheda sign defender Jack Tuite from Cabinteely

First Division Drogheda United have unveiled the signing of defender Jack Tuite from Cabinteely ahead of the 2020 campaign.

Tuite will link up with Derek Prendergast in joining Tim Clancy’s backline at United Park in recent days.

“I’m delighted to sign for Drogheda,” Tuite told the Drogs media team.

“Drogheda and Cabo both went very close last season and I am hoping that this year with the Drogs we can go a step further and get promoted.”

The 22-year-old has spent the previous two years under Pat Devlin at Cabo, making 39 appearances for the South Dublin side.

Tuite began his League of Ireland career in 2016, joining Athlone Town after returning home from Derby County.

After making 12 appearances for the Blue and Black of the Midlands in the opening half of the 2016 campaign, Tuite joined Shelbourne midway through the season.

Tuite then re-signed for Shels ahead of the 2017 season, where he found game time limited under Owen Heary, before departing halfway through the season.

He was then snapped up by Pat Devlin at Cabinteely prior to the 2018 league campaign, where he made 19 appearances for the Green and White’s.

It was the 2019 season when the defender really caught the eye, making 30 appearances for Cabo in their unlikely promotion hunt.

The central defender scored in the playoff penalty shootout win over Longford Town in October, as the Green and White’s earned a stunning victory at City Calling Stadium.
