Ryan Brennan, Daniel McKenna and Aidan Friel extend Shelbourne stay for another year

First Division winners Shelbourne have confirmed that the trio of Ryan Brennan, Daniel McKenna and Aidan Friel have all committed to another year at Tolka Park.

The trio played a key role in the Reds title success, with Shels returning to the top-flight after a long six year absence.

Ian Morris’ side secured the First Division crown with a hard-fought 3-1 win away to Drogheda United on the penultimate night of the season.

Oscar Brennan, Lorcan Fitzgerald and Aidan Friel all got on the scoresheet on a memorable night for the Reds – a result that saw off Tim Clancy’s resurgent Drogheda United.

With Premier Division football secured, Morris has been busy adding to his ranks – with Ryan Brennan, McKenna and Friel all signing up for another year at the Richmond Road venue.

Former St Patrick’s Athletic midfielder Brennan played 26 times for the Reds on their way to the league title, scoring on five occasions.

Also staying at Tolka Park is former Bray Wanderers and Wolves midfielder McKenna. The 19 year old made 17 appearances for Shelbourne on their return to the top table of Irish football.

In addition, full-back Aidan Friel has also extended his stay in Drumcondra having impressed many with his role during Shelbourne’s return to the top-flight.

Friel made 19 league appearances for Morris’ side – scoring on three occasions which saw the 28 year old secure his second consecutive promotion from the First Division.

The trio join the likes of Luke Byrne, Colin McCabe, Shane Farrell and Karl Moore who have also decided to remain at Tolka Park for the Reds return to the Premier Division.
