Former UCD winger Simon Power called up to under-21 squad after Connolly receives first senior call up

On loan Norwich City winger Simon Power has been called up to Stephen Kenny’s under-21 squad following Aaron Connolly’s inclusion to the senior squad last weekend.

Power, the former UCD winger and Greystones native joined up with the under-21s yesterday evening having earned a late inclusion to Kenny’s squad.

The Ross County loanee has made one appearance in the Scottish Premiership this term for the Staggies, who lie 5th in the league table after just eight games into the new campaign.

Power joins League of Ireland duo Liam Scales of UCD and Daniel Mandroiu in Kenny’s exciting squad – who are buoyant following their recent win over Sweden last month.

The 21-year-old has made four appearances for Kenny's under-21 squad thus far, starting in the 0-0 draw against Mexico at the Toulon Tournament.

The under-21 squad reported for duty on Sunday evening and trained for the first time today ahead of their qualifier against Italy at Tallaght Stadium on Thursday.
