Troy Parrott set to make senior bow after being named in Tottenham Hotspur side to face Colchester United

Republic of Ireland under-21 striker Troy Parrott is set to make his first senior appearance after being named in the starting line-up for Tottenham Hotspur’s Carabao Cup game at Colchester United.

The 17-year-old was heavily involved in the club’s pre-season calendar but had yet to be called up to the senior squad for a competitive game until today.

After missing the under-17 and under-19 European Championships during the summer with injury, Parrott was called up to the Ireland under-21 panel for last month’s qualifiers against Armenia and Sweden.

The former Belvedere schoolboy scored his first goal in the 1-0 win over Armenia in Tallaght before netting two in Stephen Kenny’s side’s 3-1 win over Sweden in Kalmar.

Parrott is set to operate as the sole striker in front of Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Oliver Skipp against the League Two side at the Colchester Community Stadium.
