Watch: Daniel Kelly ensures Dundalk will seal the title with a win over Shamrock Rovers on Monday

League leaders Dundalk are closing in on their sixth title in seven years after Daniel Kelly's first-half goal left them one win away from clinching a second successive title.

The Lilywhites could land the double on Monday night with three points at home to the Hoops, who were held to a scoreless draw by St Patrick's Athletic.

Top scorer Patrick Hoban was the architect of the opening goal late in the first half as he dispossessed Blues defender Rob Slevin on the touchline.

Slevin claimed he was fouled but Derek Tomney waved play on, and the striker unselfishly picked up his head to tee up Kelly for a tap-in.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Sligo Rovers beat UCD 2-0 in Belfield while Cork City and Derry City were held scoreless by Finn Harps and Bohemians respectively.
