Eir Sport and Virgin Media strike deal to make channels available to each other's customers at no cost

Eir Sport and Virgin Media TV have struck a deal that will see them make their sports packages available to one another’s customers at no extra cost.

Virgin TV customers will have access to League of Ireland games broadcast by Eir Sport while Eir customers will be provided with Virgin’s extensive Champions League and Nations League coverage when the deal kicks in in the coming weeks.

In total, customers will have access to the entirety of the Rugby World Cup and Champions League as well as the Europa League, UEFA Nations League and Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Virgin also has the rights to the Rugby Six Nations, while Eir has the rights to the Pro14 as well as GAA hurling and football league games.

Eir customers previously had access to Champions League and Europa League games via the BT Sports package but that has since transferred to Sky Sports.

Customers of Eir TV, broadband and selected Eir mobile customers, as well as those who subscribe to Eir on Sky, will have access to Virgin’s six dedicated sports channels.

Virgin TV customers (but not Virgin broadband customers) will get access to Eir’s two sports channels: Eir Sport 1 and Eir Sport 2.
