NIFL Championship side Portadown have announced the signing of former Glasgow Rangers striker Gary Millar.

The striker signs for the NIFL Championship club having made an impression while on trial. Scoring three goals in two appearances.

The 30-year-old has been capped up to under-19 level with Scotland and has had stints with Motherwell, Gretna and Clyde as well as Whitburn, Broxburn and Bellshill Athletic.

“Gary has been training with us for the past two weeks and has shown more than enough for us to sign him,” Ports manager Matthew Tipton said, speaking to the club’s website.

“Gary has recently moved here from Scotland where he played for numerous clubs including Glasgow Rangers, Motherwell and Clyde as well as various junior teams where he has had a tremendous goal scoring record.

“He’s shown us already that he has the knack of being in the right place at the right time,” he added.

Portadown begin their NIFL Championship campaign away to Loughall on Saturday (kick off 3pm).
