Conor Hourihane signs new deal with Aston Villa

Irish international midfielder Conor Hourihane has signed a new deal at Aston Villa for the upcoming season.

Hourihane joined Villa in 2017 scoring 21 times with 16 assists from his 116 appearances for the Villans. The 28-year-old has previously played at Plymouth and Barnsley before making the move to Aston Villa.

A youth product of Sunderland, he chose Ipswich when his contract expired with the Black Cats.

Hourihane has played at international level with the Republic of Ireland’s under-19 and 21 teams and eventually with the senior side under Martin O Neill.

Winner of the 2019 play off championship against Derby County with Aston Villa and League One play off winner with Barnsley, Hourihane commented on his new deal.

“I'm absolutely delighted. It's exciting times for the club with us moving into the Premier League.

"I've waited all my career for the opportunity to play at this level and the time has now arrived."
