EFL League One outfit Sunderland have unveiled the capture of Northern Ireland international Conor McLaughlin on a two-year deal.

McLaughlin joins the Black Cats having left Championship club Millwall to join forces with the Stadium of Light side.

Jack Ross’ side were unsuccessful in their pursuit of promotion to the Championship in the 2018/19 season, ultimately coming up short in the League One Playoff Final.

McLaughlin, formerly of Irish League powerhouse Linfield, joins Sunderland as a 34 time Northern Irish international, making his debut in 2011.

The 27-year-old has since gone on to play for Shrewsbury, Fleetwood and Preston North End prior to his switch to Millwall.

Speaking about the defender’s arrival, Sunderland manager Ross, said: “I am delighted to be able to bring Conor to the club.

“He brings quality and experience to a position that was of high priority for us to have options in. I look forward to working with him over the course of the season.”
