Mick McCarthy calls up Kevin Long and Josh Cullen for Euro 2020 Qualifiers

Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy has called up Josh Cullen and Kevin Long for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia next week. 

Cullen and Long join forces with the squad following confirmation that Ronan Curtis and Alan Browne will miss out due to injury. 

Cullen, 22, is on loan at Charlton Athletic from West Ham United and is also the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 captain. 

So far this season, the West Ham loanee has lined out 19 times for the Addicks in League One and has earned four assists in those appearances.  

Charlton, once of the Premier League, currently lie in 5thplace in League One, well in contention for promotion back to the Championship. 

Kevin Long of Burnley also joins up with the squad despite having rarely featured for the Clarets this season. 

The 28-year-old Corkonian currently has 11 senior caps to his name, with his international debut coming in 2017. 

The former Cork City defender is the eighth former League of Ireland representative to be called up into Mick McCarthy’s squad. 

The Boys in Green face a showdown against Gibraltar to kick off their Euro 2020 Qualifying campaign on March 23rdbefore a home game against Georgia on March 26thas McCarthy looks to kickstart his second tenure as Ireland boss in the grand manner.
