Colin McCabe signs for Shelbourne

Goalkeeper Colin McCabe has signed for Shelbourne as they gear up ahead of the 2019 First Division season kicking off this Friday night.

McCabe was last on the books of Bohemians, where he spent the past 18 months struggling to make a breakthrough to the first team due to the form of Shane Supple, since arriving in August 2017.

Though he had his difficulties, he did make appearances in the EA Sports Cup, the IRN-BRU Cup and also in three league fixtures – against Waterford(3-1 loss), St Pats(3-1 win) and Sligo Rovers(1-1 draw).

The former underage Irish international keeper, who has been capped at u17 and u19 level, played 45 minutes for Shelbourne during their 7-2 victory against Ballymun United at Tolka Park last Friday.

Shelbourne are favourites with the bookies to win the First Division this season as Ian Morris prepares for his first year in senior management. The 31 year old has already made a number of impressive signings for the club so far, with fans now eager to see how the team gets on in competitive action.

The 13-time league winners will attempt to climb their way back up to the top division, for the first time since 2013, with Galway United their first opponents away at Eamonn Deacy Park.
