Croke re-signs for Wexford

Wexford FC have announced that midfielder Thomas Croke has re-signed with the club for the 2019 season.

The former Waterford player joined Wexford in 2017 and has made over 40 appearances for the south-east club scoring six times.

The 27 year old made 19 appearances, 17 of which were starts for the club last season when they finished 9th in the First Division.

“I'm delighted to re-sign with the club for 2019,” Croke told the club’s website.

“There was interest from other League of Ireland clubs but after a chat with Seanie [O’Shea] and the management team my mind was made up.

“I love it up here, it's a fantastic club. The people who run it behind the scenes deserve so much credit and respect. I couldn't speak any more highly of them.

“On the pitch it's been a difficult few years since the relegation from the Premier. A lot of new faces at the club but it's looking promising.

“Some familiar faces too with Hopper, Danny and myself. We'll make sure standards are high for the younger lads coming through and hopefully it's a successful season.

“We're hoping we can attract some support from the Wexford people. Having a League of Ireland club in the county is something to be proud of and people should take ownership of it."

Wexford face St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park in the 4th Round of the Leinster Senior Cup on Monday 18th February (kick-off 7.45pm) before beginning their First Division campaign away to Athlone Town on Friday 22 February.
